Domeniconi hörte Annika Hinsche auf einer ihrer CDs. Er war von ihrer Spielweise wie über die Kompositionskunst von Raffaele Calace... so begeistert, dass er beschloss, ein gleichwertiges modernes Stück für Mandoline zu komponieren... Seine „12 Preludes" für Mandoline Solo bilden ein Jahrhundertwerk in der Musik für Mandoline... Annika Hinsche als international gefragte Interpretin war dem Komponisten eine kongeniale Partnerin für die endgültige Ausformung dieser Präludien...Die Anforderungen an die Solistin sind äußerst virtuos. Annika Hinsche meistert das mit bewundernswerter Akrobatik und perfekter Klanggestaltung.

There are twelve Domeniconi preludes and they are all, in a word, exceptional. The music is, at varying times (and often in the same piece), mercurial, tender, violent, desolate, exuberant, funky – really, just about any relevant adjective one could think of. Technically the pieces are (mostly) very difficult but all seem highly idiomatic for the mandolin, at least in Hinsche’s world-class hands. In time I believe this music will be seen as a milestone in the history of the classical mandolin, the contemporary equivalent of the Calace.
